TORTUS is born…
TORTUS was founded by Dr. Dom Pimenta and Christopher Tan at Europe's leading accelerator, Entrepreneur First. Chris was working on computer-controlling agents for professional work, and Dom was exploring use cases to improve healthcare with AI.
At a chance meeting Chris said "Don't doctors do a lot of computer work?" and so TORTUS was born.
Backing from the world's best investors and hospitals
Seed 2023 Funding: After building a prototype and securing initial partnerships with one of the world's best children's hospitals TORTUS raised a $4.4m investment led by San Francisco-based Khosla Ventures.
Continued Growth: TORTUS hired it's first employees, and started the long road to product launch, developing the AI and clinical toolsets and developing commercial partnerships.

Raise to revenue in under 12 months: Less than a year after funding, TORTUS became the first ambient AI company to achieve DTAC NHS compliance and deploy in an NHS hospital, launching in Feb 2024 to UK primary care
Research Pioneers: TORTUS launched an expansive research programme with Great Ormond St Hospital publishing several papers and setting the standard for clinical evaluation of LLMs in healthcare.

AI-Clinician co-working: Today, we are pioneering the future of clinician-AI co-working, representing the UK on the international stage, and working across our NHS partners and US colleagues to define a new paradigm of healthcare for the 21st century.
